Meeting Day #1

15 January 2013

The retreat finished yesterday and today was devoted meetings. In the morning we had a reflection on ideas from the retreat and then the rest of the day addressed business issues and schedules for Maryknoll Asia South.

Small group meeting
The morning meeting started with a recap of what was decided last year at this meeting, what we would focus on and the appropriate action steps. This was followed by discussion in five small groups about what we should focus on in the future.
Report from a small group
Luise Ahrens reported from one of the small groups while Lindsay Doucette (L) and Dorothy McGowan listened.
Helene O'SullivanTom O'BrienMarge

Helen O'Sullivan then gave a report about the activities of the Maryknoll Sisters during the past year, and Tom O'Brien and Marge Inhumang did the same for the Maryknoll priests and brothers and the Philippine Catholic Lay Mission.

Charlie Dittmeier
Charlie Dittmeier then gave a report about the Maryknoll Lay Missioners. MKLM now has lay missioners in Asia only in Cambodia.
Liturgy for the day
On the meeting schedule, the liturgy was kept at the same time of day and today Tom O'Brien was the presider. Julia Shideler here reads the first of the scripture readings.
John Beeching, Ed Riehl, Nancy Davies
After the morning sessions, John Beeching, Ed Riehl, and Nancy Davies discussed some points in the breezeway area, a central meeting ground between the meeting and living areas.
Recognizing the staff
On the last night for the majority of the participants, the retreat center staff always prepare an extra special meal. And then we always give them a stipend for the extra work they do for us.
